Dubai: Al Futtaim Electronics (AFE) is on course to facilitate standardised training and certification for the consumer electronics industry's advancement and growth.

The company, a member of Al Futtaim Group and a distributor, retailer and customer care provider for global brands such as Panasonic, Sanyo and Toshiba, is in talks with Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and its training partner Bedrock Learning, a digital home technology training and business support products, and will seal the deal within three months, according to Vishesh Bhatia, group director for electronics, engineering and technologies at Al Futtaim Group.

Officials said that as the market in the region is booming, there is an increased need for good education on integration and installation of home technology.

"This training initiative, a first for the region, will help raise the level of professionalism and service standards of the consumer electronics industry while also ensuring benchmark certification recognised across the CE spectrum," said Bhatia.

"The training modules will help build a knowledge base and are aimed at distributors, custom installers, retailers, technicians, integrators, and sales representatives from across the region," according to an official statement.

The courses can be taken online. About 90-100 hours will be required to complete the training and accomplish the standardised certification of digital home technology integration, officials said.

Helen Heneveld, president of Bedrock Learning said the "training courses are tailored to meet the requirements of consumer electronics professionals and you can expect course contents delivered by world-class faculty".
