Dubai: Big Apple, in the Boulevard in association with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and in collaboration with the Red Crescent Society, is organising the sixth edition of the Vertical Marathon on May 16.
Participants will have to climb the 1,334 stairs of Jumeirah Emirates Towers.
The event will commence in the early hours of Friday morning when runners will climb the 52 floors and 265 metres, of the Office Tower of Jumeirah Emirates Towers that is 350 metres tall. After the Vertical Marathon, the participants will enjoy a brunch offered and created by chefs of Jumeirah Emirates Towers.
Last year the Vertical Marathon raised over Dh125,000 for the medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières, and more than 120 eager runners supported this charitable event. This year The Big Apple and MSF are raising the bar and expecting 150 participants for the Vertical Marathon.
Desmond Cawley, Manager of Sports and Leisure at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, commented: "It is the sixth time that Jumeirah Emirates Towers are supporting this charitable event together with MSF. At The Big Apple, with our qualified instructors we make sure that our members are feeling well at all times and we believe that by participating in the Vertical Marathon we will be disseminating this wellbeing and increase the awareness of those who are in need."
Kourtnie Schaefer, Events and Partnership Coordinator, Médecins Sans Frontières stated: "We are honoured that the community has been supportive over the years and enabled us to organise the 6th annual Vertical Marathon with Jumeirah."
