Dubai: Low-cost airline Air India Express will start new services between four Indian cities and Dubai, boosting its link with its most important destination in the Gulf.
The three-year-old airline will add thrice weekly flights to Goa and Ahmedabad and re-establish services to Pune before September, chief operating officer PP Singh said.
Flights to Pune were suspended in September last year as the airport expanded the runway to accommodate the new generation Boeing 737-800 plane the airlines uses.
From mid-August the budget carrier will also take over the Thiruvananthapuram-Dubai flights from its parent and flag carrier Air India.
Singh said the airline's aim is to fly Gulf-based Indian expatriates as close to their home towns as possible but airports in many Indian cities are not equipped to handle international flights.
