Riyadh: There has been a fresh twist to the two-year-old dispute between Saudi Arabia's Jadwal International company and Emaar Properties with a Saudi Arabian newspaper claiming that officials of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry leaked confidential information on the matter to the press.

Saudi daily Al Riyadh reported that it had received reliable information that the information was leaked from a file kept in the chamber's custody.

"Several officials of the chamber, who have nothing to do with the file, have got information about the content of the file and are circulating the information," the report alleged.

However, Majid Al Hadyan, director of the chamber's legal department, denied the report alleging the leak.

The report has angered the Arbitration Authority, comprising Shaikh Abdullah Khunain, arbitrator, Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Sattam, legal consultant and Emaar's representative and Sa'ad Bin Ghunaim, legal consultant and representative of Jadwal International.

The authority informed the Saudi Court of Griev-ances about the development. Subsequently, it decided to take back the file from the chamber, which had received it after being chosen as the venue for arbitration sittings.

The nearly two-year-old dispute between the two companies is under adjudication in the kingdom.

Partnership gone sour

The dispute erupted after Jadwal International accused Emaar of violating a partnership deal signed between the two in December 2003, and failing to implement earlier projects agreed upon by both companies.

Jadwal alleged that Emaar tied up with another company to form an investment company in the kingdom named Emaar Middle East.

Riyadh Chamber was one of the three parties entrusted with settling the dispute through negotiations with officials of the two companies. The other two authorities are the Saudi Court of Grievances and the Arbitration Authority.
