Manama: Cars less than four years old can be registered online, according to a new scheme launched by the traffic directorate.
The electronic service aims to reduce the long queues of cars at the country's only registration point in Eisa Town and to help drivers save their time, Khalid Abdullah Bu Ali, the head of IT at the interior ministry, said yesterday in a press statement. "The service is available to both Bahrainis and expatriates who can now register their cars through the click of a mouse without troubling themselves by driving to registration offices," he said.
Under Bahrain traffic laws, cars that are less than four years old do not require technical inspections.
Bahrain, with a total population of one million, has more than 350,000 vehicles.
