Riyadh: Saudi Arabia is keen to boost Arab political and economic ties and bring stability to the region through the Arab League, said Prince Saud Al Faisal, Foreign Minister.
Addressing the Shura Council on Sunday, Prince Saud said: "We are now facing a meeting of the Arab League, which is expected to discuss on all matters relating to the holding of the summit of the Arab leaders. Saudi Arabia considers this summit as a mark of Arab cohesion and unity."
The foreign minister told the members of the efforts taken by the League to solve the Palestinian crisis, the Israeli violations and efforts to stop such violations, in addition to the situation in Lebanon, Iraq and other Arab areas.
The meeting took place a day after the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Saturday. The foreign ministers stressed at the conclusion of their meeting in Riyadh the need to remove any obstacle to the election of the president of the Lebanese republic by March 11, and renewed their support for the government and constitutional institutions of Lebanon.
