Sana'a: Some of the four ministers who lost their posts in Monday's Cabinet reshuffle were accused of corruption, said an official statement on Tuesday.
Minister of Electricity and Power, Mustafa Buhran, Minister of Oil and Minerals, Khalid Bahah, Minister of Fisheries, Mahmoud Saghyri, and Minister of Expatriates, Saleh Sumai, left the government, according to the decree.
Ten ministers of the 33-member Cabinet were reshuffled or sacked by a republican decree issued by President Ali Abdullah Saleh late Monday.
"Some of the outgoing ministers have files referred to the Supreme National Panel for Combating Corruption [SNPCC]," said a statement released by the cabinet.
"More files [on corruption] will be referred soon," warned the statement in a reference to the recently-established SNPCC, which has been complaining about not being given enough powers to hold "big" persons accountable. Any corruption will never be able to escape accountability, and the government will never allow any more corrupt elements, the statement said.
The government's performance, the statement added, will be continuously corrected in all institutions, by referring any financial or administrative violations to the concerned bodies for accountability. Some of the other changed ministers were elected as governors of provinces and some others had new positions in the cabinet.
Former Minister of Interior, Rashad Al Alimi, was appointed as deputy prime minister for defence and security affairs. And former minister of civil service, Hamoud Khalid Al Sufi was elected as the governor of Taiz province in the country's first ever governors' elections which were held earlier this week.
Almost all the appointed governors in the country's 21 provinces were replaced by elected ones from the ruling party in an election boycotted by opposition parties.
