Congratulations
Director of Al Ain Higher Colleges of Technology Brent Mills distributed the certificates and wished the graduates success in their chosen field.
He said the college ensured that students are well qualified for the workplace. All students have completed and passed practical workplace training designed to enhance their knowledge and learning.
"Faculty and staff of Al Ain Women's College are proud of their graduates and extend their best wishes for a life full of success. As graduates, they will contribute to the continuing development of the United Arab Emirates," Mills said.
Appreciation of support
The college thanked President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his continuous support of education.
The college also thanked Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for achieving and maintaining excellent standards in higher education.
Fatima Ahmad Al Naqbi, a distinction graduate of Applied Science in Business and Management, spoke on behalf of the graduates and expressed her gratitude to the "Mother of the Nation" Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union, Honourary President of the Women's Committee of the Red Crescent Society (RCS) and honourary chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Council of Businesswomen.
"Due to her effort in promoting the role of women, Emirati women have developed spiritually, culturally and socially. Emirati women now hold vital positions in all fields taking advantage of the educational opportunities offered to them."
The student also thanked the faculty family and friends who supported her colleagues.
Long road to success
"It took a lot of hard work to get here. My fellow graduates and I walked into the college as young girls. The past four years have been the best years of our lives. Over the course of those years, the graduates grew into the young women you see today," Fatima said.
She said the higher education experience had made them older, wiser and stronger and advised current students to live every moment to the full as they would miss it later.
"Today is a celebration. It is a festival of remembering all the good times we had and looking forward to all the good times ahead of us. Let us not cry with sadness, but with happiness. Let us celebrate life and all it has to offer."
Raba'a Baniyas who graduated with distinction said she was very proud to have come this far. When Notes caught up with her after the graduation ceremony she said she received many presents and was going to celebrate with her husband and children.
Raba'a is currently teaching at AAWC as an intern as she eventually wants to teach there as a full time faculty member.
"Only distinguished students are selected to attend the teaching and training programme, which is two years. I currently teach students business, finance, human resources and accounting."
