Riyadh: Members of the Executive Committee of the GCC Educational Bureau unveiled plans for a unified curriculum for all schools in GCC states.

The 61st session of the undersecretaries at the ministries of education from six GCC states, which met here, has decided to carry out a comprehensive study about the Gulf educational system.

Dr Saleh Yaseen, acting undersecretary at the education ministry of Kuwait, said the meeting was aimed at a total revamping of the educational system in GCC states.

"The meeting discussed unified syllabi for the Gulf states and explored the prospect of a total revision of the curricula.

"It has also discussed plans for publishing new text books and bringing out new learning tools, as well as transforming some scientific topics to applied ones."

The meeting also looked at a number of topics concerning educational reforms and improving the standard of education.

The GCC Educational Bureau has already implemented projects and programmes aimed at improving the educational system in Gulf states.
