Riyadh: Mohammad Ameen Waliyuddin, Saudi ambassador to the Philippines, accused the Philippines embassy in Riyadh of facilitating the Filipino woman Rose, who is the wife of Saudi citizen Ali Al Saihati, to leave the country with her three children.
"The embassy helped her to leave the kingdom after entertaining fake documents produced by her, containing false information about her and the children," the Saudi local press reported quoting the ambassador.
Waliyuddin said that he had telephonic talks with Rose where she admitted that it was the embassy which helped her to flee the country.
"The embassy did not verify the false information furnished by me in the fake documents and helped me to run away with my children easily and comfortably," the ambassador quoted her as saying.
Ill-treatment
According to the ambassador, the Filipino had hatched the plan six months ago to flee the kingdom with her children. Rose also complained that she had been subjected to harassment and beating by her husband.
Rose attributed this harassment to her knowing of her husband's marriage with an Indonesian woman. The ambassador requested her to return to Saudi Arabia with her children after assuring that there would not be any ill-treatment or harassment in future. However, she declined to return.
Waliyuddin said that he had met with the Philippines minister of foreign affairs to appraise him of the case and put pressure on the woman to return home.
"There are reports that Rose is planning to leave for the United States, and this would complicate the whole affair," he said.
The Philippines embassy in the Kingdom has so far not commented on the issue.
