Mina: The Saudi Ministry of Health announced that it has mobilised 9,600 of its staff including doctors, nurses, technicians, workers and drivers in the service of Haj pilgrims.

In addition to this, it has prepared 21 hospitals at Makkah and Madinah with a capacity of 3,932 in-patient beds. The hospitals are provided with latest medical facilities capable of dealing with all kinds of emergencies and illnesses.

Apart from this, they have 50 ambulances equipped with sophisticated medical equipment.

An emergency medical tower consisting of 182 beds has been built in Mina. The total capacity of the hospitals in Mina exceeds 800 beds. The ministry has linked its medical facilities in all entry points leading to the holy sites with a sophisticated telecommunications and wireless network.

The Ministry of Health has joined hands with other authorities in carrying out Haj emergency plan.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Haj Committee Prince Naif said yesterday while opening a conference on the 'Safety and Health of Pilgrims' that the Saudi government gives top priority to the health, safety and security of pilgrims.

"Our goal is to make sure that pilgrims perform their Haj rituals in a good condition," he said. In his keynote address, Prince Naif referred to the government's efforts in the expansion of the two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah and the implementation of several health, housing and communication projects in the holy sites for the welfare and well-being of pilgrims.
