Riyadh: An interior minister on Saturday vowed to maintain a crackdown on Al Qaida, saying the arrest of 172 suspects did not end the Al Qaida threat in Saudi Arabia.
"We cannot say that we are finished from these deviants," said Prince Nayef told Al Riyadh newspaper. "But efforts will continue," he said.
Prince Nayef also told the Arabic newspaper that a Saudi man was being held on suspicion of leading a plot to attack oil facilities and military bases.
"Unfortunately, he is a Saudi. He was arrested along with the group," he said, without giving further details.
The Interior Ministry on Friday arrested the 172 suspects, including weapons, computers and more than 20 million riyals ($5 million) in cash.
Islamist militants loyal to Al Qaida have vowed to destroy the US-allied Saudi monarchy.
