Durham: An all-round effort brought the UAE-based Young Talents Cricket Academy their first victory in the Syndicate Under 15 Cup held in Longhirst Hall, Durham.

In their second match of the tournament, the YTCA A team won by 5 wickets against the YTCA B team.

Batting first after captain Niraj lost the toss, the YTCA B team lost an early wicket when Shan was caught by Jeremy off his own bowling.

Jeremy also struck three overs later when Ali played around a ball and was lbw for 12.

Nikhil Lalwani also got an lbw decision, with Rutvij being the batsman.

After eight overs, Reuben decided to introduce Sairaj, and he proved his captain right when a good low catch was taken by Vishakh at deep-midwicket off the bat of Vignesh Venkat.

Sairaj and Tanmay restricted the scoring in their spells, with Sairaj going for eight and Tanmay going for nine in four overs each.

With the last five overs coming up, Reuben brought on Aditya, and he got both Ranbir and Aman stumped by Kartik, for nine and eight respectively.

Comfortable catch

Saif also top-edged Aditya, and Nikhil comfortably held on to the catch.

In the last over, bowled by Jeremy, Marlon hit a quick four and was then run-out.

The YTCA B team ended up on 86 for 7 off their 20 overs.

The YTCA B team needed early wickets, and they got one when Pratik was given out lbw for one off the bowling of Aman.

With a disastrous mix-up, Abhiraj too was gone early, run out for four.

Chirag Suri and Sairaj Venkat then steered the YTCA A team to 72, with 4 fours from Sairaj, when he was bowled by Vignesh. Chirag soon got out lbw to Vignesh for 39.

The innings from Chirag, which included seven fours, was definitely the match-winning one for the YTCA A team.
Kartik took the scores level with 7 runs before he was bowled by Ranbir.

With one run left, Reuben came to the crease, and got a no-ball from Ranbir.
