Dubai: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s administrative and financial powers have already been taken over by the Sports Ministry and plans are now afoot to appoint politicians in key posts.
According to information filtering in, Pakistan's sports minister Najamuddin Khan has even decided to attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, to be held in Dubai on October 14 and 15.
The post of the PCB chairman has been vacant ever since Dr Nasim Ashraf resigned on August 17, a few hours after the resignation of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.
Musharraf, who was also the patron of the PCB, appointed Ashraf, who had played first class cricket.
With many international teams refusing to play in Pakistan, some crucial decisions are pending to be taken.
The PCB has signed up a $9 million deal (Dh33.10m) with Dubai Sports City to play in Dubai and is awaiting the approval of the new chairman.
It is now likely that Pakistan may not be able to host any international cricket until the end of 2008.
Even the West Indies women's cricket team's tour, supposed to start from October 14, has been cancelled after the West Indies Cricket Board called off the tour due to security reasons.
