Abu Dhabi: Forty teams have confirmed their participation in the Salama Insurance Trophy cricket tournament which begins on Friday at the Zayed Cricket Stadium complex.

This is the second year that Salama-Islamic Arab Insurance Company have sponsored the event organised by the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council for B Division teams.

Rafiq Halani, General Manager of Salama said, "We are extremely delighted to renew this partnership with ADCC and with the opportunity to participate in the spread and development of the game."

Dilawar Mani, ADCC President said, "It is an extremely significant development for the game of cricket that a world leading Shariah compliant company like Salama associate themselves with the promotion and development of the sport of cricket."

The draw will be held today with the inaugural match slated for Friday and the final during the end of December.

The tournament will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis with 12 matches being worked off every Friday until the knockout pre-quarterfinals. The tourney will be 25-overs per side affair with the winners getting Dh4,000 as prize money and the runners-up Dh3,000.
