Dubai: Iranian professional Mehrdad Awladi wants to see his contract through at Al Shabab.
Awladi still has one more year to go with the new etisalat UAE National Football League champions.
"I have a contract with Al Shabab and I want to stay to usher in the new professional league with a champion team like Al Shabab," Awladi told Gulf News.
The Iranian professional spent the latter part of the season nursing a leg injury that he picked up in Al Shabab's encounter against Al Dhafra.
"I want to stay here as I feel so happy and satisfied being with the champions," Awladi stated.
"The atmosphere in the club is great, we have a good coach, the coaching staff are good and the fans and officials are so supportive," Awladi said.
Extensions unlikely
He is already toying with the idea of how he can be useful to the Al Shabab in their AFC Champions League competition next season. "Winning that would be a dream come true, and I think we have the substance here at Al Shabab to be the AFC Champions," the Iranian said.
Eman Mobali and Jawad Kazemian, Awladi's countrymen at the club, are unlikely to get extensions with Al Shabab for next season.
In fact, it is believed that Mobali has already signed with former champions Al Wasl.
