Dubai: Steve McClaren, the former England manager, said that sometimes you work hard but the result of one match can make you fail.
"Sometimes you do a good job and work hard with the team, but a failure in one match makes you lose everything and that's what happened for us when we lost to Croatia and didn't qualify for Euro 2008," said McClaren in the Dubai International Sports Conference, Professionalism and the Sports Industry, in its last day at the intercontinental yesterday.
McClaren said that his policy when he failed is: "SUMO", meaning: Shut Up and Move On".

He said that he was very happy with the great success achieved by Manchester United in 1999 when they won the triple: the FA cup, league and European Champions league. He was working with Sir Alex Ferguson as assistant manager.
Former Italy manager Cezare Maldini said in his morning lecture that the UAE clubs have to focus on the youth players if they want a good future in professionalism. "Each club must have not less than 10 coaches for the youth. This will be an excellent approach for professionalism.
"Also the clubs have to sign young Brazilian players, the maximum age of any foreign player must not be more than 27 years," said Maldini.
Carlo Tavecchio, deputy chairman of the Italian football federation, said the Italian Calcio achieved great success in marketing.
Adnan Hamad, regional manager Art channels, said that the other channels made the prices of the English and European champions league very expensive in recent years.
"We at Art paid for the English league $1 million for one season in 1994 and Showtime paid for it last season $146 million for three seasons.
"We paid $3 million for the European Champions league in 2003 and Al Jazira bought it for the coming three years for $204 million."
