Dubai: Al Wasl's footballers left for a three weeks training camp in Switzerland yesterday to prepare for the first professional league season, which kicks off on September 19.
The club will take part in a friendly tournament in Geneva, from August 5 to 9, with three GCC clubs participating.
The Dubai team will face Al Ahli from Saudi Arabia, Qatar-based Al Sadd and the Kuwait club.
The team have been training at the club's stadium for the last ten days under new coach Miroslav Beranek, of the Czech Republic.
All the players took part in the training sessions and left yesterday for Switzerland.
"I am satisfied with the players enthusiasm and high spirit which they showed in the training sessions," said Beranek.
"I am focusing now on the players capabilities to know their standard and how they perform before I decide the formation and the tactics."
Good season ahead
The Al Wasl coach said he was optimistic about the team's performance in the new season.
"The friendly tournament in Geneva will help me to know better the players standard as this will be the first time to watch them in action," said Beranek.
