Dubai: Salim Sa'ad saved the day for the league champions Al Shabab when he scored the equaliser in the last minute of their tough clash in the League Cup against Al Wahda on Saturday night at the Maktoum bin Rashid stadium.

Al Shabab fought hard in the second half to stay undefeated at home at the beginning of the season after Al Wahda led 3-1 and were about to take the points.

The two teams, especially Al Wahda, played without key players due to their presence with the national team in Japan preparing for the South Korea match in the World Cup qualifiers.

To add to Al Wahda's woes, the referee issued marching orders to Yasir Mattar for a rough tackle on Mehrdad Awladi of Al Shabab in the last minute of the first half.

Mousa Mounjy scored first for Al Shabab in the 18th minute before Saeed Al Kuthairi levelled for Al Wahda six minutes later.

Al Kuthairi added the second in the 37th minute and Eisa Ahmad made it 3-1 in the 77th minute.

Al Shabab stormed back in the last ten minutes with substitutes Surour Salim and Salim Sa'ad hit the second goal and equaliser which came in the 90th minute.

In the other matches Al Ain defeated Ajman by a solitary goal scored by Ali Al Wehaibi in the 15th minute, while Al Shaab and Al Wasl drew 1-1.

Walid Murad scored for Al Wasl in the 3rd minute before Abdullah Eisa leveled for the home team.
