Dubai: Dubai Autodrome Motorsport Club (DAMC) is set to launch the DAMC Sprint Challenge for Cars and Motorcycles.

Due to popular demand the DAMC is in the throes of finalising the Sprint Challenge series which will take place from May through to September.

The Sprint Challenge bridges a gap between the popular Red Line Challenge and National Race Days by providing an intermediate competition catering for existing competitors, while offering enthusiasts an opportunity to enter a competitive series to test their skills.

Drivers and riders competing in the Sprint Challenge will require valid UAE road licences and the event will have full competition status.

Any car or motorcycle will be allowed to participate providing they have working headlights and pass the scrutineering inspection at each event.

Safety requirements

Guidelines for safety requirements are in the process of being finalised and will encompass car and motorcycle safety requirements, race suits and crash helmets .

The Sprint Challenge will be run in the evenings, under floodlights on the club circuit of the Dubai Autodrome.

There will be eight rounds for cars and motorcycles run on separate dates.

Each round will allow competitors two separate practice runs and three timed sprint runs of which the best of three will be taken into account.

The fastest eight drivers in each class will score points Formula One style from 10 to one, which will count towards the DAMC Sprint Challenge series.

Six of the eight rounds will count for points, allowing competitors to drop their worst two or non-scoring rounds.

Car classes vary from 1600cc standard cars to 2000cc sport cars. Motorcycles classes range from stock bikes up to 650cc to 1100c and Super Stock bikes up to 600cc.

Participants will be required to submit entry forms.
