Pau: UAE drivers Saeed Al Muhairi, Mohammad Al Awadi and Mohammad Al Mutawa of the HSBC Racing Academy took to the streets of Pau in their second ever race in the Formula Academy Euro Series over the weekend.

It was by far the most difficult race circuit on their season calendar and showed no mercy. Their relative inexperience was exacerbated by a wet and rainy first race day on Saturday and a torrid race yesterday.

On the first day Al Muhairi was best placed on the grid and got a great start overtaking two drivers in the first lap.

But on the third lap he was out of the race after another driver collided with the HSBC car.

Al Mutawa slid into the barrier with only a handful of laps to go. Al Awadi however finishing a credible 12th.

The second day, despite better conditions, brought no more success for the Emirates. Muhairi came upon a collision, crashing into the stricken cars.

Awadi lost control coming out of the chicane and crashed, damaging his car but he was unscathed.
