Paris: Frenchman Sebastien Loeb moved closer to a fifth consecutive world title when he won the French rally in Corsica on Sunday.

The Citroen driver has now won 10 times this season and leads Finn Mikko Hirvonen, second in Corsica, by 14 points with two races remaining.

"It's getting better and better", Loeb told the world championship official website.

"To win here in Corsica is a great moment. We were much faster all rally and that's great for me and the team. We'll add another two more points to our championship lead. So okay, we'll see how we get on in Japan."

The BP-Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team got its FIA World Rally Championship season back on track today with Mikko Hirvonen and Francois Duval claiming second and third place finishes in Rally de France.

Great accomplishment

And the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority-backed outfit had further reason to smile with the UAE's Shaikh Khalid Al Qasimi finishing 12th, his highest asphalt finish to date.

"Finishing twelfth is a great accomplishment for me," said jubilant Shaikh Khalid.

"There are at least 20 world class drivers here this weekend and I have battled my least favourite surface to finish just outside the top ten.

"Contesting two asphalt events in consecutive weekends have definitely helped my confidence on tarmac and I'll be far better prepared for next season's asphalt events with these lessons.

"I have a few weeks off before my final round and I'll be watching closely to see what happens in Japan in the meantime," added Shaikh Khalid.
