Dubai: The UAE national beach soccer team - champions of Asia for the second successive year - will play in Group C of the beach Soccer World Cup finals which will be held in Marseille in France from July 17 to 27.

UAE will face Cameroon, Argentina and Russia in their group.

"Its not an easy group and includes a team from each continent: Russia from Europe, Argentina, South America and Cameroon, Africa," said UAE team manager Badr Hareb.

This is the second time the UAE have qualified for the finals of the Beach Soccer World Cup. Last year they played in the finals held in Rio de Janiero after they won the Asian title for the first time.

"We showed a good performance in our first appearance in the finals last year in Brazil. We lost with narrow margins in the three matches we played. However we are now more experienced and will perform better and fight to reach the quarterfinals," said Hareb.

The other teams include Iran, France, Uruguay, Senegal in Group A.

Group B includes Portugal, Salvador, Italy, Solomon Islands.

While Group D will be contested by Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Japan.
