Dubai: Kim Sa'adi upset top seed Grace Talih to pick up the women's singles title at the Al Qasba 20th Marbella Resort Open Tennis Championship 2008.

The second-seeded Sa'adi got the better of Talih 6-2, 6-3 to claim her first title in the 2008 UAE National Tennis Rankings.

In the first set Sa'adi jumped to an early 2-0 lead before Talih fought back to make it 2-2. But Sa'adi then dominated the next four games with her powerful groundstrokes to take the set 6-2.

In the second set, Sa'adi raced to an early 4-1 lead, till Talih broke her opponent and held serve to make it 3-4.

However, Sa'adi took the next two games take the set and match 6-3. The Men's Open singles title went to Tunisia's Essam Jalali when his opponent from Pakistan Asim Shafiq suffered the after effects of a severe cramp and could not play.

In the boys under-16, the title went to top seed Julien Monti with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Daniel Dupont.

The boys under-14 crown went to Pranav Walia when he made his way past Ishan Choubal 6-3, 7-6. In the boys under-16 doubles, Choubal teamed up with Avinash Bhaskar to claim the title after beating the pairing of Arjuna Ajay and Shyam Vasudevan 9-6.

In the boys under-12, final second seed Alexey Popyrin toppled top seed Arjuna Ajay to win 9-7.

However, Arjuna Ajay partnered Kevin George to take the doubles beating Popyrin and Fahad Janahi 9-5.

Talih claimed the girls under-16 title when Fatima Abbas Al Janahi handed her a walkover.

The tournament now will shift to Al Qasba for the invitation Super Singles where ATP ranked players will participate.

The competition is taking place at Al Qasba from May 26.

The event will conclude with the final on May 29.
