It’s no longer a dog’s day out in Beijing. The Olympic Games organisers have taken the menu offering dog meat delicacies off the 112 official restaurants.

The move is aimed at respecting the sentiments of other nationalities who are in the country for the world’s greatest sporting event. South Korea took similar measures when they hosted the Games in 1988. The cuisine is believed to contain good nutritional properties and are also used for Chinese traditional medicine to help lower high blood pressure.

Defender of a new faith

A defender in Major League Soccer has now decided to chart a new course and work for the cause of humanity. Chase Hilgenbrinck is training for priesthood after quitting New England Revolution. “After years of discernment, I strongly feel ... to become a priest in the Catholic Church,”
Hilgenbrinck said.

“Though I’ll miss the game of soccer, I know that I’m moving on to something much greater,” he added.

Kournikova keeps her cool

Anna Kournikova has quietly let go a high volley past the baseline on a recent controversy.
