Effervescent Ayesha Takia will be back on the big screen with De Taali. This is Takia's second release of the year after Sunday, which received a lukewarm response.

Though she hasn't had a hit film so far, she is immensely popular. Takia speaks to tabloid! about her choice of roles, films and marriage.

Does it bother you that none of your recent films have clicked at the box office?

To be honest I do films which satisfy me. But that doesn't mean that don't want box office success. Everyone does a film with the hope of making it a hit. I can put in a lot of hard work and do my job sincerely but a bit of luck is needed for any film to succeed. I have some upcoming films that are aimed at the box office. Let's hope they work.

Don't you think that your strict no-no to onscreen exposure or kisses have cost you many plum projects?

I don't have any regrets about losing these films. I am clear about what I want to do in films. I only do movies which I believe in and that would make my family proud. I avoid roles that don't suit my sensibilities and I would never cross my principles.

What's your new film De Taali all about?

De Taali is a cute film about friendship. I play Ammu who is a complete tomboy and grows up with Abhi and Paglu played by Aftab Shivdasani and Reitesh Deshmukh. Ammu's character is a total brat and she considers herself one of the boys.

The love and friendship between these three characters is beautifully portrayed in the film. The film has shaped up better than I expected.

How was the experience of acting with Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Rimi Sen in De Taali?

We had a blast while shooting this film. I think they are among the best co-stars I have ever worked with in my career. All of them are chilled out.

We used to play a lot of pranks on each other on the set. I think the fact that we were having a lot of fun while shooting this film reflects in the chemistry we share onscreen.

What is the unique selling point of the film?

E. Niwas has treated this film differently. Every shot, song or sequence is conceptualised in a manner that should stand out. Its youthful and vibrant narration will connect with today's generation. Moreover, Vishal-Shekhar has come up with terrific music. Hopefully, the film will appeal to everyone.

You have done serious films such as Dor that won you critical acclaim and now you are doing light hearted entertainers like Sunday and De Taali.  Which genre of films do you prefer?

Actually, I enjoy doing both serious and comedy roles. Serious roles usually involve intense performance and may sometimes drain you emotionally. To balance such roles it is always good to do light-hearted films.

It adds variety in your life. Luckily, irrespective of the genre I am getting performance oriented roles and that is a good sign. Moreover I love to experiment. For that matter I don't mind doing an action film with a lot of stunts.

What are your other projects lined up for release?

After De Taali, I have Boney Kapoor's Wanted with Salman Khan. It is a masala film directed by Prabhu Deva. The film is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Pokiri.

I am in the process of completing Tasveer with Akshay Kumar and the film is a big-budget supernatural thriller directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.

I am doing Paathshala with Shahid Kapoor and then there is a romantic comedy film with Riteish Deshmukh where I am playing an alien. So I am excited about all my forthcoming films.

Have you set a deadline to get married to your boyfriend, Farhan Azmi?

I haven't set any deadline to get married. I love Farhan and intend to get married to him in the future but I don't think we are ready for it. I am currently busy with my films while he is involved in his business.

I think love is the best thing to happen to my life. I am sure marriage will only bring a lot of joy to my life. So whenever the marriage has to happen, it will happen.
