If you want to dazzle on that special day or treat yourself to a mini makeover, be sure to head down to Beautyworld Middle East for a bucket-load of top tips.

Hair, make-up, nails, teeth and skin treatments are leaving men and women from across the region feeling transformed after a visit to this year's Beautyworld Middle East.

The largest international trade fair for beauty products, cosmetics and perfumery in the Middle East, the three-day exhibition at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre runs until today.

On first inspection it looks exactly as you'd expect - ladies in clinical white outfits boasting perfectly-preened nails and teeth, displays and demonstrations about the latest hair fashions, wig fashions and any other fashion you can possibly imagine.

But look a little deeper and it isn't long before your realise this show has brought together some of the most advanced beauty procedures and world experts to one place - Dubai.

With a record growth rate of 30 per cent more exhibitors over last year, this year's event is a goldmine of advice, expertise and experienced companies supplying products, solutions and services to the beauty industry - a platform to target key decision makers in one of the most lucrative markets in the world.

But it's not only the retailers who can benefit as beauty fanatics from the UAE proved.

Alana Descram-Parker, 28, was at the exhibition in search of the latest fashion accessory - a set of gleaming white teeth.

The Dubai-based PA said: "I have wanted to have my teeth whitened for a while and people told me to wait until the show because the best in the business would be here. I haven't been disappointed and you can tell the people here know what they are talking about."

Now in its 13th year, Beautyworld Middle East has a proven track record and organisers say a record number of visitors arrived.

Always a crowd-puller in pedicure and manicure central, the team from Creative Nail Design (CND), one of the most respected names in the beauty industry for hand and foot care, showcased more than 300 products soon to be released in the region.

‘Excellent opportunity'

The company, which already has a strong presence in the UAE, unveiled its new brand identity which was officially launched in Las Vegas last.

Manwel Yehya, marketing manager for the exclusive distributor of CND in the region, said the show was one not to miss for them.

He said: "Beautyworld provides an excellent opportunity to showcase CND's brand. The demographic profile of the region with its fast-growing population, especially in the young under 30s category, offers a booming market for beauty brands."

Organisers expect approximately 15,000 people from over 100 countries to visit the exhibition.

Another popular choice was anything to do with hair. Japan Emirates Trading (JET), a leading company specialised in medicated cosmetics, health care and beauty products, launched two new hair growth accelerators, Trigger and TURF at Beautyworld Middle East and the affair attracted curious passersby in their droves.

Loaded with questions about the new products people (both with and without hair) were intrigued by the new products.

Free advice

JET, the sole distributor of Kaminomoto, meaning "essence of hair" and other products for hair and skin care in UAE and GCC countries, offered visitors the opportunity of testing Trigger, Turf and other products for free as well as advice on how to rectify hair problems.

Carly Lamdamm, 19, visiting from the UK, said she had learnt more about how to look after her hair in 15 minutes than she had in her whole life.

She said: "These people are so experienced. You can tell they know their stuff and they have done wonders with my brittle hair in less than 10 minutes. It's incredible and I can't believe this advice is free."
