A beaming Judy Ann Santos met the press, including Showbiz Tsismis's Manila mole, on the set of her latest movie, Ploning.
According to the award-winning actress, the film is a dream-come-true project because it is through the movie that she has been given true liberty as an actress to express herself. She also appreciated the fact that she was consulted on the creative direction of the film.
It helps that Santos is one of the film's co-producers and that the director happens to be her best friend. Because of that, Santos feels even more involved in the project than any other she has been part of in the past.
Early previews of the movie have so far generated positive feedback, but Santos is up for a fight as she is going against
bigger-budget productions which will also be released on April 30. Whatever the showdown, expect her hordes of fans to make this another blockbuster movie.
Pinoy now a Journey-man
Talking about dreams, another Filipino artist has realised the gig of a lifetime when he was chosen to become the new front man of the iconic American band Journey. Arnel Pineda was discovered by Journey's guitarist Neal Schon while surfing YouTube.
As such, Pineda is an internet discovery, just like Charice Pempengco, who shot to fame when she was invited to appear and sing on Ellen Degeneres's show. Being the frontman for such a popular band is a big thing and we wish Pineda well.
Incidentally, Fremantle Media has allowed the showing of an Idol franchise outside of its national territory. Thus Pinoy Idol can now be seen in the US and many are hoping more talented Pinoy singers will be discovered through the programme.
Rampaging Rama
Anabelle makes a comeback with her daughter in My Monster Mom
If a child of hers is in trouble, you can expect former actress Anabelle Rama to defend them like a tigress protects her cubs. But now, Rama is herself back in the limelight with her comeback movie aptly titled My Monster Mom, a film in which she co-stars with daughter Ruffa Gutierrez.
Charges
She was also the talk of the town this week when the Supreme Court decided in her favour against reporter-host Cristy Fermin, who is said to be thinking of filing a motion for reconsideration. If the court case stands, Rama can expect approximately Dh100,000 in damages following malicious rumours allegedly orchestrated by Fermin.
