Here's what bloggers from the Middle East and beyond are preoccupied with today.

It’s official, the iPhone is crap!
From our good buddies at Gizmodo, Here is a list of things the iPhone does not have:
• No songs as ringtones
• No games
• No flash support
• No instant messaging
• No picture messages (MMS)
• No video recording
• No voice recognition or voice dialing
• No wireless bluetooth stereo streaming (A2DP)
• No one-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain headphones)

Stuff we already knew it didn't have:
• 3G (EV-DO/HSDPA)
• GPS
• Real keyboard
• Removable battery
• Expandable storage
• Direct iTunes Music Store Access (Over Wi-Fi or EDGE)

Hold on - No games, no expandable storage, no removable battery, no instant messaging, no MMS, no songs as ringtones? What the..! Even my two-year-old Nokia 3230 has all that!

So, basically, the iPhone is just an over priced phone with a fancy user interface. And you know what, even that is overrated. Sure, a touch screen is all cool until you actually start to use it. With your fingers. Which would mean getting it all smudgy and dirty.

Fly Emirates
This is not a paid post, although you thought and I wish it was!

My daughter was treated marvelously by the Emirates Airlines staff and was given a lovely backpack filled with goodies and one very nice book which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her meals were interesting and, and she was always served first, again thoughtful and appreciated.

The in-flight entertainment console is conveniently located right in front of you and the options are endless! You could start any of the programs or films at ANY point you wanted so you don’t have to wait for them to start over. It also had a juke box with every possible popular, jazz, classical album from almost any artist you could think of. It also had EVERY number one J-pop single which kept me amused and nostalgic for hours. I couldn’t keep my earphones off my ear even when I was half-asleep. All in all, Emirates Airlines for me wins hands down. Don’t just take my word. Experience it yourself.

Bahrain 2030
Khalid Muharraqi continues to create breathtaking images in digital media; one of his recent forays is the creation of a series of conceptual images for Skidmore, Owing and Merril of what Bahrain could look like in 2030, just 23 years from now.

I just hope that they will fix the transport infrastructure (oh, and electricity and water and sewage and emergency services, etc) by then so that we can truly enjoy the future.
And if you have any money lying around that you don’t immediately need, buy property. Land will be more valuable than gold pretty soon.
