Dhaka: Rescuers in Bangladesh have recovered six decomposed bodies on Sunday from a river near Dhaka where a ferry sank last week.

The death toll from the accident, which occurred when a crowded ferry collided with another vessel carrying sand, has now been raised to 45.

According to a police officer, two of the recovered bodies are children.

The ferry disaster is the first major accident in Bangladesh since May 2005, where 150 people lost their lives.
