Manila: While Roman Catholic bishops may be divided over political convictions, the country's nuns are sure on what position they would take on the latest issue concerning corruption hounding the government of President Gloria Arroyo.

The nuns of the Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMRSP) are serving as bodyguards to Senate star witness Rodolfo Noel "Jun" Lozada during public appearances.

Lozada, who returned to the country in February to testify on government kickbacks in the botched multi-million dollar national broadband deal with China, specifically asked for the nuns to provide him security. Wherever Lozada goes he is protected by a blanket of AMRSP nuns.

"I don't feel like it's that dramatic. It's a whole spiritual experience for me," said Sister Mary John Mananzan, head of the AMRSP.

Mananzan said when Lozada sought refuge inside the compound of the De La Salle High School in Greenhills district last month, he requested that nuns provide him security.
