Manila: Philippine troops will continue offensives against Muslim rebels but will make "tactical adjustments" because of Ramadan, an official said on Sunday.

"There is no instruction for us to stop our offensive...We cannot delay enforcement of [the] law," army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Ernesto Torres told Manila Radio.

In the past week, soldiers have raided more than a dozen camps controlled by the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Clashes between troops and MILF rebels in Mindanao have left more than 100 people dead and 280,000 homeless.

Torres said ground commanders had been ordered to make some "tactical adjustments" including assisting Muslims in evacuation camps who want to go to mosques.

"We will extend the necessary support so they can continue to observe their religious practices in this holy month of Ramadan," Torres said, referring to Muslim civilians.
