Bangkok: The Thai generals who dismissed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in a 2006 coup, face a dilemma as his People Power Party (PPP) easily won the most seats in Sunday's election.

With 75 per cent of votes counted, the PPP was heading for 230 seats in the 480-member assembly. Even though short of majority, it wast enough to form a government by a tie-up with one minor party.

Now the major issue is whether the army and the royalist organisation, who are behind the bloodless putsch as the Thaksin camp said, will watch its opponent make a comeback by proxy.

However, a strong show by the PPP could generate another revolution, according to some analysts. Yet, some believe that the

The Army-appointed government may try to block the PPP  by disqualifying some of the candidates citing vote fraud.
