Do you know anyone who tutors his or her children at home instead of sending them to school?
How do they manage and how has this method affected the children? We would like to know.

Yes, homeschooling is actually sometimes more effective than sending very young kids to school(primary). I plan to homeschool my children through a program developed by Mr. Bo Sanchez. Check out his website www.catholicfilipinoacademy.com. Marivic Dubai,UAE Posted: July 22, 2008, 17:53
This year we decided to home school and of course using an internationally acclaimed courses. It will cost me about 50K but i know my kids will get much better quality of education. They were tested by an American institute and all of them got promoted 2 classes ahead due to our constant attention to their schools. I am sorry but i feel many of the people who whine about homeschooling actually forgetting that the real value of education come from home not a teacher. Maher Dubai,UAE Posted: July 22, 2008, 17:30

Yes I do.I'm fourteen and I have two friends who are planning to study only till 10th grade[we are in 9th now].They dont have any financial problems as they live in 3 and four bedroom apartments that are new and big.
I have a friend whose two older sisters never went to school but she has older brothers who are getting complete education.Their mother is also not educated.
They are from Afghanistan. Rabia Sharjah,UAE Posted: July 22, 2008, 14:33

Dear Sir,
I'm a Sudanese, working in Dubai. I have twins; boy and girl, 5yrs old. My wife, beside her continued home duties, is taking care of my children as she tutors them at home instead of school only because of high schools' fees. I brought her all books and syllabus of KG1 and KG2 so as to expedite her this hard mission. I thank my God for helping me over providing me a good and valuable spouse.

Our children's school, the time we spend everyday teaching our children at home is more than the time they are spending at school. They come home with loads of homework to do. The teachers leave the teaching part to the parents which I believe is really not acceptable as both myself and my husband are both working and reache home late. I don't understand why since we are paying the school to do that. Not only this, the children haven't memorized their alphabets and numbers and they already come up with 10 different subjects. Unbelievable but what can we do, we don't have a choice. The school fees are affordable and it is near to our house and my husband's workplace. I just wish that someone from the Higher Education or related department can do something about this. Maria Dubai,UAE Posted: July 21, 2008, 08:30
If you are really very much concerned, something must be done to soaring education coast. education and health should be for free. Tariq Sharja,UAE Posted: July 21, 2008, 08:06

yes i know some who does home schooling Wafaa alain, uae Posted: July 20, 2008, 21:37
Yes.I know of a person who lost his job and had to keep his 6th grade child at home. It was traumatic for the child and the parents. There should be a system where the Father's visa is extended (allowing him to take up a temporary job) so as to allow a school child to finish his/her school year. If child welfare is a priority, then this is the least that we can do for him/her. Jayan B Dubai,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 19:43

There is a man, from Bangladesh. He works with me since last one and half year. He always tells me about his family status and situation. He has a daughter back in his country, who doesnt go school. I asked him why, He said that he dont believe in knowledge and education and in the new era its all waste and there is nothing we can earn from the education. Yes we have seen people teach their kids at home. in afghanistan this is common to teach kid at home becouse of multiple reasons. but this is not an effective way of teaching. parents do not have complet education of all subjects so kids are deprived form many subjetcs. sultan dubai,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 17:55
Sending children to school is better than to keep the children in home because in the school there is a good environment of competition and are motivated to learn. asad Dubai,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 17:42
There are a lot of families who are unable to send their children to school due to high rising school fees. I know three families who are unable to disclose, sorry for that. Fiaz Abu Dhabi,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 17:28
In my opinion Teaching children at home, is a quite less valuable compared that children get education in School. Reason is that if children are in school then they will learn also the discipline of living in a community, so when they will go out to professional life they will follow the rule of community which the have learnt. So teaching in a good Institution is more valuable compared to home. Jamal Dubai,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 17:15
The living cost and school fees are on a rise, and I'm planning to shift my daughter to home tutoring instead of sending her to school. shahzad Abu Dhabi,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 17:10
The people who teach their children at home instead of sending them to school, they can not manage activeness and a healthy competitive mentality of their children, even they can provide a basic knowledge of surrounding but it will a hesitating nature of child in the company of other children, and a lot more...... This is little difficult. I tried to tutor my niece at Home. But it is very difficult. Habeeb Dubai,UAE Posted: July 20, 2008, 15:33
Home tution is on rise here. Some teachers do not teach properly in the class of private schools and force the students to take tution from them after school is over. MOE should look into it seriously and take action against these teachers who trap these children. Asif Dubai,U.A.E Posted: July 20, 2008, 15:09
